Route with more variations. From the restaurant you can see the Bazum ridge in good and bad visibility. There are two paths on its western side about 200 metres apart, the upper one is called the Basum path on the map, we who know the area call it the upper Basum path (with the local accent it is a beautiful word combination), the lower path is called the lower Basum path. It's up to you which one you choose. The upper Bazum road is more attractive with views and a few infotables of the Forestry Nature Trail, while the lower one is more friendly to lazier guests. The two paths meet behind the Elm Rock and connect to the Luká Trail. Following it (marked with a blue hiking sign), you'll head on fiercely towards the forest, passing a tributary of the Kaplický Brook, the quarry in front of Owl Rock with a resting place, and plunging into the dark, dense forest. Less than 200 metres from the above-mentioned quarry, turn slightly left off the blue hiking trail and after less than a kilometre turn left again, where a beautiful hike up a winding path, the so-called zubačka, lined with stone drifts awaits you. You can skip this turn-off and continue to the forest, where you can follow the green hiking trail along the fence to the Hunting Chateau and from there on to the Na Křížkách crossroads, but it is certainly a nice diversion. If you choose it, after a hike along that winding path you will be full of pleasant feelings and reach the Bázumská hut, the highest (inhabitable) building on Boubín. From here, you will follow the forest path, which will lead you to the Na Křížkách crossroads, just like the variant without Zubačka. From there, go downhill past the game preserve to the crossroads Pod Včelenským vrchem, where you turn left and at the next crossroads keep left again. The Kubohuťská road, which you will be on at that moment, will lead you safely back to Kubovka. This is one of the many options of trips around Kubovka, as destinations a bit away from the sometimes touristic "over-visited" places we can recommend Lipka in combination with the train, or the region to the east of Boubin, where you can explore villages such as Řepešín, Saladín, Kratušín or Drslavice with its beautiful fortress next to the Blanice valley. You can also combine the trip with swimming in the Křišt'anovice pond, where almost no one has ever drowned. We will be happy to recommend other destinations for your cycling trips at the reception. Luftians often ask for example about the Vltava springs, the Schwarzenberg Canal or the recreational path from Stožec to Nová Pec. Lufti women ask for the number of the handsome Mr. Chief.
You can also hike the world's longest treetop trail - the Baumwipfelpfad in Neuschönau in the Bavarian Forest National Park. The trail is 1320 m long and 44 m high. Dreamy views await you along almost the entire length of the trail, and from the highest point on the "tree tower" you can even see the northern ridge of the Alps on clear and fine days. Simply a fairy tale.
We were very satisfied with the service, accommodation, children's playroom and pool. Personally, I would have argued for a hot tub, because after some time with the kids in the water, I needed to warm up urgently. The restaurant and its staff were very nice, the food was excellent. We are grateful for the possibility to order gluten free dishes from the menu, because my daughter has celiac disease. If you could fit in an outdoor playground somewhere after the outdoor remodeling with a bench for parents, the kids would love it and we parents would too. Looking forward to next time, we plan to return. We really enjoyed the pool. I would really like it if they added a hot tub where you could even warm up after swimming with the kids. We really enjoyed it! Food can be selected for a child with a gluten free diet. Everything was meticulously cleaned, except the cleaning lady missed three tissues under one of the beds from previous guests. It suited us that the guests were well dispersed around the hotel and nowhere was crowded, not at breakfast or dinner, not in the pool or games room.
